Welcome to the first Musical Writer's Contest!
The idea of this contest is to write a story inspired by a work of music. I will assign each participant a song using the information they have given me (see form at the end of this post). You will have two months to write an original story inspired by the piece of music. Any genre of writing is accepted but any writing with an X rating will immediately be disqualified.
A brief overview of what's going to happen:
1. Sign yourself up! We want as many people as we can possibly get into this contest! The time to sign up will be exactly a month. Please fill out the form below and submit it as a COMMENT to this post. (to post a comment press the button that says *any number* comments at the bottom of this post)
2. After the month is up I will send emails out to everyone with the title and artist of their assigned song along with an MP3 of the song just incase you don't already have it. (actually I'm not sure if it's an MP3, whatever type of file Windows Media Player creates)
3. Take the two months time to write your story! Remember, it must be inspired by the music I've given to you!
4. After the end of the two months submit your story with a brief (at least two sentences, no more than half a page) explanation of how the song inspired your story. This is just to make sure you didn't write a story and lie that it was inspired by the song or prewritten to recieving your piece of music.
5. I'll judge all the stories that were submitted. There will be a first, second, and third place award along with two honorable mentions.

Rules:
1. No writing will be accepted that is over the rating of R (or M). Just think of it this way, if Fiction Press won't accept it, I won't either.
2. All stories MUST be at least 4000 words long when submitted. They don't have to be finished if they're a multiple chapter story. Yes, this means all short stories, one shots, must be completed.
3. Fan fiction will NOT be accepted. The story must be original fiction.
4. Please remember to edit. No one wants to read a story littered with spelling and grammar errors.
5. I understand that people may want to drop out of this contest. I don't mind, but if it has to do with the song you have been assigned, please think twice. The more challenging your song is, the better your story will be when you come up with the idea!
6. Please put a link to this contest on your Xanga, My Space, Fictionpress, Fan Fiction, whatever account! We need as many entrees as possible! 
7. Do NOT request a certain song. I will assign you the song. You do not choose it yourself.
